Harry
Harry on Rideau St. proud of the hat he says he made himself but a bit disappointed that all he could find at home was a pink string to tie it down. I asked Harry if that was his Halloween hat he said no but then went on to explain the time he was in Japan near Mt. High in a field of tall grasses and somehow cut and bent the tall grasses to make himself a pair sandals.

Helene and Jessie, Toronto, 1988
My loftmate Jessie decided she would enter the Marilyn Monroe look-a-like
contest one night way back in 1988. Our friend Jano,
fabulous hair dresser and living in our stairwell at the time, transformed Jessie
into Marilyn.
We took a streetcar to ‘Buddies In Bad Time’ theater for the event. Jessie made a scene on the streetcar by sitting on any man’s lap who would have her.
Once there we soon realized Jessie was going to win without any trouble, her only competition was a 6 foot, 250 pounds transvestite.
Jessie got on stage, sang ‘Happy Birthday Mr. President’ and 200 gay men went crazy,
she won first prize of $50.
We took the streetcar back and again Jessie 'worked the floor' to much hilarity. We ended up at the Beresford Tavern on Queen East near Seaton - cheap beer and wild locals.

MARVELOUS PIG in OLD OTTAWA SOUTH
PIG & THE CITY
HELENE LACELLE & PETER EVANCHUCK
LIFEofPIE
now to 31August
1134 Bank St in old ottawa south
'NOT in the LOUVRE but in the LOO'
One of life’s little miracles happened to create this show, our cottage neighbor sold us this plastic pig for a pack of smoke. Turns our the pig is a DON FEATHERSTONE.
DON FEATHERSTONE created plastic pink flamingoes in 1957. He worked at UNION PLASTICS in FLITCHBURG, Mass. He and his wife dressed alike for 35 years.
In 1996 he won a NOBEL PRIZE for ART for creating those pop, plastic FLAMINGOES we see on millions of lawns.
AND WE BOUGHT HIS PLASTIC PIG FOR A PACK OF SMOKES, imagine?
CREATIVE juices flowed new show, new ideas, out comes PIG & THE CITY
Out we went to photograph Old Ottawa South using Featherstone’s PIG with PEOPLE&PLACES to produce this new show and soon a new short comedy drama called PIGGIRL
For those who have seen the movie comedy BABE this idea will bring smiles
EVANCHUCK's photos are made marvelous by partner LACELLE using traditional painting techniques combined
with modern computer assistance this enhancement creates what the artists call MARVEOUS REALISM ( think of DALI )
