HELENE LACELLE and PETER EVANCHUCK working away producing promotional postcards for CMPPA handouts at TIFF this year of their two docs MARKO'SMANIA & THE POETRY OF PAYNE

EVANCHUCK’s 2 documentaries detailing years in the lives of homeless poet ROBERT PAYNE and bipolar photographer MARKO POLAKIWSKI are in this year’s TIFF buyer’s/distributor’s section - ‘We are hoping that both MARKO and ROBERT will be allowed inside the HYATT REGENCY hotel on the 5th at the awards to mingle with the producers/buyers handing out postcards and ROBERTS poetry book THE POETRY OF PAYNE - reciting his poetry and trying to sell his book - while MARKO will be explaining his lifelong journey to photograph Canada’s UNESCO HERITAGE sites - i think most haven’t seen something like this show …. ‘Canadian artists/creators have to become more aware of the importance of such promotion moments in their creative lives. When no one knows ur stuff no one can care about ur stuff. Simple eh ..... mmm?’

Picnic Day

My mom, my niece Kris, my sister Louise and big boy James.

My mom loves kiting, really. Her wisdom of the day was " I'd rather hang-out with phonies then boring people" .

Went for a picnic in Rockliffe Park yesterday with my family . As a kid we would have our end of the school year picnic here and walk. Yes, the whole school would walk from Beechwood St. and Springfield Road to Rockliffe Park and that's a good five mile walk. The trees have grown so much now I couldn't even see the hill where we toboganned in the winter.  I never did master the bubble wand.

Bonne Fete Jacques

It was Jacques' birthday a few days ago, he would be 55 like me. Jacques Couillard died of brain cancer 3 years ago. I only found out the day he died, Anne R. called to say she had a message about Jacques. I melted. I got Peter to phone back  because I was in my room unable to handle what Anne would say. The next few days were spent in a blur of sadness.

Jacques and I had lots of fun together back in the late 70's and 80's. I took a thousand pictures of our adventure and in Oct. 2011 I had an exhibit of our times together. Here is a glimpse.

Enjoyed the sun all day! Closer view of my painting 'He No Longer Doubted His Boldness'
 SUNDAY JUNE 16
Early Sunday morning before the vendors arrive.

Dressed for the cold and the rain!

A bit of mud here and there!

Despite the cold and the rain on Sunday, I had a great time with my cheerful neighbors all around me. Thanks again to the TNAF for the enormous effort they put into the show every year!

Aitch & Saddo at LA PETITE MORT GALLERY

Dropped by La Petite Mort Gallery this afternoon to have a better look at the exquisite lively gouache paintings I could see from the window. Inside, hard at work were the artists themselves AITCH & SADDO all the way from Romania, painting a mural on the gallery walls. Guy Berube the owner, reminded me about the opening this Friday from 7-10pm. Please, take a minute from your busy Friday night and come meet these two incredible artists.

WHEN: Friday June 7, 7-10 pm
WHERE: La Petite Mort Gallery, 306 Cumberland, Ottawa
